It has been a pleasure getting to meet some of you for the first time and reacquainting myself with others over the past several months. This year has proven community is more important than ever. We have the opportunity to live in Manzanita. Our community is very eclectic and I’ve been fascinated as I hear the many diverse stories of backgrounds and lived experience all nestled in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We all deeply care about so many of the same things and it has been my pleasure to learn from you. Even as I seek to lead our city, I’m more eager to learn from our city.
Our nation is more polarized than ever and I will admit I too am tired of business as usual. As much as I’ve desired to appeal to logic, I also want to offer you my heart. I am running for mayor because not only do I love our community but I value equally everyone and everything that makes Manzanita what it is. I still have a lot to learn about the different perspectives and lived experiences in our community but what I am certain of is our community remains our common denominator. I believe as long as we remain focused on respecting each other, even when having difficult conversations, we can be successful at continuing the legacy of Manzanita being what it is while growing into what we can be together.
I commit to learning how we can identify innovative ways to build relationships with each other while working collectively on the future of our wonderful town. I hope you will commit with me to be committed to our community. Let’s learn from each other and grow together. I vow to listen steadfastly without always needing to give an immediate response.
I value you and I value our community including its past and its future. Let’s push towards our goals together!
